Roncali Lighthouse

The Roncali Lighthouse, a majestic work of orientation for sailors, marks the westernmost end of the largest archipelago in the Caribbean. It was inaugurated on September 15, 1850. Located in Cabo de San Antonio, on the Guanahacabibes peninsula, distinguished by UNESCO in 1987 as a World Biosphere Reserve.

It stands 31 meters above ground level. It guides with its flashes of light thousands of ships that transit through the waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico; with a frequency of two flashes in 10 seconds thanks to a unique conical masonry tower.

The importance of this lighthouse is considerable since it is practically at the gates of the Yucatan Peninsula and is capable of carrying the signal to the navigator up to 27 miles and even in stormy times it has a range of up to 10 miles. Most important point for observing bird migration. It is the last place in this geography, where you can see the sunset, making it a great attraction for a romantic picnic. Take the chance and enjoy!
