Morro Santiago Lighthouse

Located in the military fortress Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca del Morro or Castillo del Morro de Santiago, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998 for being the most complete and best preserved example of Latin American military architecture, based on the principles of Italian and Renaissance design.


This emblematic Lighthouse dates back to 1840, the year it was founded due to the advantages it could bring to the development of trade of the then Spanish Crown. We are in the presence of the lighthouse with the highest height and reach in the archipelago of the largest of the Antilles and in the Caribbean Sea area and one of the highest in Latin America, with 83 meters above sea level.
